Meet some of the recent additions to our faculty.

Violist Nadia Sirota (BM ’04, MM ’06; Academy ’08) joined the faculty this fall. She also became an Arnhold Creative Associate at Large after several years as a Creative Associate, during which time she had residencies including with her chamber sextet yMusic, led a multimedia collaboration around Donnacha Dennehy’s Tessellatum, and spearheaded sight-reading competitions. She is teaching Performance Skills for the Versatile Musician in the fall, Performance Practice in Contemporary Music in the spring, and coaching chamber music all year.

Advice for students

Having big dreams got you this far, so don’t stop dreaming big! It can be tempting to get bogged down by the minutiae of creating a life in the arts, but keeping big goals in the foreground is the only way to realize big goals. It’s amazing we get to do what we do, never forget it!

Reading/listening to/watching

I love novels, and a few good ones I’ve read recently are The Rabbit Hutch by Tess Gunty, Something New Under the Sun by Alexandra Kleeman, and Ink Blood Sister Scribe by Emma Törzs. I’ve been listening to Mondays at the Enfield Tennis Academy by Jeff Parker, El Bueno y El Malo by Hermanos Gutiérrez, and Locked Down by Dr. John. And I’ve been rewatching 30 Rock.
