Alabama native Susanna Phillips has attracted special recognition following critically-acclaimed performances of Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at Sante Fe Opera and a return to the Metropolitan Opera this season as Pamina in the celebrated Julie Taymor production of Die Zauberflöte, conducted by Bernard Labadie. In February 2010, she appears with the Lyric Opera of Chicago as Adina in L'Elisir d'Amore. Ms. Phillips debuts with Fort Worth Opera in May/June 2010 in Don Giovanni as Donna Anna and sings with Opera Birmingham as the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro in March 2010. She can be seen in concert on November 6 and 8 with the Baltimore Symphony under Marin Alsop in Mahler's Symphony No. 4 and Mozart concert arias and with the Alabama Symphony for their New Year's Eve Gala. Ms. Phillips will appear in recitals throughout the United States.
Ms. Phillips was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a winner of several of the world's leading vocal competitions - Operalia (both first place and the audience prize), the MacAllister Awards, and the George London Foundation. She received her master of music degree in May 2004 and her bachelor of music in May 2003, completing an accelerated program.
A native of Tullahoma, Tennessee, pianist Craig Terry has launched an international career performing with some of the world's leading singers and instrumentalists. Currently, he is in his fifth season as assistant conductor at Lyric Opera of Chicago. Previously, he served as assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera after joining its Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. Mr. Terry has performed with such esteemed vocalists as Sir Thomas Allen, Christine Brewer, Eric Cutler, Susanna Phillips, Patricia Racette, Catherine Wyn-Rogers, Hugh Russell, and Garrett Sorenson. He has collaborated as a chamber musician with members of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra, the Gewandhaus Orchester, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and the Pro Arte String Quartet. Mr. Terry has performed at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Mr. Terry received his bachelor of music degree in music education from Tennessee Technological University, continued his studies at Florida State University, and received a master of music in piano performance/accompanying from the Manhattan School of Music where he was a student of pianist Warren Jones.

In February 2008, the Metropolitan Opera and Juilliard announced a collaborative training program to identify and train the finest young opera singers and accompanists, preparing them for careers in the world's great opera houses. This collaboration was announced by Peter Gelb, the Met's General Manager, and Joseph W. Polisi, President of Juilliard. Met Music Director James Levine will serve as the program's Artistic Director, and Brian Zeger, Artistic Director of Juilliard Vocal Arts, will serve as Executive Director. The program will begin with the 2010-2011 season.
