Soprano Susanna Phillips is Selected as Winner of Juilliard's 13th Annual Alice Tully Vocal Arts Debut Recital

Susanna Phillips made her Metropolitan Opera last season as Musetta in La bohème. She also appeared as Mozart's Countess in Le nozze di Figaro with the Dallas Opera and as Donna Anna in Don Giovanni with the Boston Lyric Opera. Recital appearances have included the Vocal Arts Society at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and at Carnegie Hall with the Marilyn Horne Foundation in New York. She returned to her native Alabama to perform Strauss' Vier Letzte Lieder with the Huntsville Symphony.
Ms. Phillips was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a winner of several of the world's leading vocal competitions - Operalia (both first place and the audience prize), the MacAllister Awards, and the George London Foundation. She received her master of music in May 2004 and her bachelor of music in May 2003 from Juilliard in an accelerated program.
Tickets to New York debut recital are $20 and $15 and available beginning on October 22 at the Alice Tully Hall Box Office or through CenterCharge at (212) 721-6500. Half-priced tickets for students and seniors are available only at the Box Office. TDF vouchers are accepted.

In February 2008, Juilliard and the Metropolitan Opera announced a joint training program to identify and educate the finest young opera singers and accompanists, preparing them for careers in the world's great opera houses. Metropolitan Opera Music Director James Levine will serve as Artistic Director for the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program in Partnership with The Juilliard School. Brian Zeger, Artistic Director of Juilliard Vocal Arts, will serve as the new program's Executive Director. The program begins with the 2010-2011 season.
