The winners of the 2007-08 Student Photo Competition, which was sponsored by the Office of National Advancement and Alumni Relations, were selected from 47 photos submitted by 27 students. First-year piano student Hannah Sun received both first and third prize for her photos Will and Naissance; third-year dance student, Nathan Madden took second prize for his photo, Embrace; and a special third-place prize was also given to second-year masters student in trumpet, Christopher Coletti, for his photo, Trumpet Jump. The winners received gift certificates ranging from $50 to $125. Ten additionally selected photos were combined with the top four to create a 2008-09 calendar, which was given to members of the 2008 graduating class in May.

On February 23, 2008, music alumni gathered at Carnegie Hall for a performance by the Juilliard Orchestra conducted by James DePreist, followed by a reception. The performance featured Chen Yi's Ge Xu (Antiphony) for Orchestra, Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Major, Op. 26, and Symphonie fantastique by Berlioz, a program that was replicated by the orchestra on their historic tour of China in May 2008. This event also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first European tour by a Juilliard orchestra.
